Petora — Pet Care Marketplace

The Challenge

Petora wanted to build a trusted marketplace for pet services — grooming, walking, boarding, and veterinary care. The challenge was designing a two-sided marketplace that felt trustworthy enough for pet owners to hand over their beloved animals, while being simple enough for service providers to manage their bookings.

Our Approach

We interviewed 60 pet owners and 25 service providers to understand the trust signals, booking workflows, and communication needs unique to pet care. We also studied successful marketplace models across different verticals.

The Solution

We designed a marketplace experience centered on trust and convenience:

• Verified provider profiles with background checks, certifications, and photo-rich portfolios
• Smart matching that recommends providers based on pet type, location, and service needs
• Real-time updates during services with photo check-ins and GPS tracking for walks
• Integrated scheduling with calendar sync and automated reminders for recurring bookings
• Review system with detailed ratings across multiple trust dimensions

The Results

Petora launched with strong traction on both sides of the marketplace. The verification system and photo check-ins became the most-cited reasons pet owners chose Petora over alternatives, and the streamlined provider tools achieved an 85% onboarding completion rate.
